Cabbage & Kadalparuppu Masala
Serves 3-4

Ingredients:
Cabbage ¼ kg, chop into small cubes
Channa dal 4 tbsp
Tomatoes 2, chopped fine
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Sambar powder 1 tsp
Chilli powder ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Oil 2 tbsp
Fennel seeds ¼ tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Method:
Soak channa dal (kadalaparuppu) for 10 to 15 minutes. Cook until just done.
Heat oil in a kadai and put fennel seeds (saunf) and curry leaves.
Add the tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, sambhar powder and salt. Stir cook over a medium flame until pulpy.
Add cabbage and dal. Sauté until well mixed. Keep over medium flame and cook until the vegetable absorbs the masala. Stir in between.
Spoon ½ tsp oil towards the end, stir cook on high and take off heat.
Serve hot.
