Wheat Gol Bhajji

Bhajji's top the list of comfort food. When it is sweet, it doubles the pleasure. As an after school treat this is just great for kids (and adults alike). I love to relax and enjoy this with a cup of Masala Chai.

"Gol" means round and 'Bhajji' is fritter.


Whole Wheat Flour - 1/2 cup
Rice Flour - 2 Tbsp
Jaggery - 1/4 cup or to taste
Elaichi - 1/2 tsp
Coconut - 2 Tbsp, grated (optional)
Soda - 1/4 tsp


Crush the jaggery.
Take about 1/4 cup water in a bowl.
First add the jaggery and mix it with a ladle or by hand to dissolve it.
Once it has dissolved, strain and add the remaining ingredients.
Mix adding enough water to get a dropping consistency.
Heat oil in a shallow pan and deep fry spoonfuls of the batter until golden.
Test fry one baaje and add more powdered jaggery or sugar as is needed.
Drain and serve hot.
