Wheat Pongal

Wheat Pongal is a light and nourishing breakfast / dinner option. You can add sprouted green gram instead of moong dal.



Ingredients:
Wheat Rava - 1 cup
Moong Dal/Sprouts - 1/4 cup
Water - 3 cups
Salt to taste
Green Chilli - 1, slit
Oil - 2 Tbsp
Ghee - 1 Tbsp
Peppercorns, broken - 1/2 tsp
Jeera, crushed - 1/2 tsp
Ginger - 1/2 ", grated
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig

Method:
Wash the rava and dal.
Heat 2 Tbsp oil in a pressure cooker and add chilli. Add the rava and dal, water and salt to taste.
Close cooker and pressure cook for 2 whistles. Simmer for 5 minutes thereafter.
Allow pressure to subside and then open cooker. Mash lightly.
Heat ghee in a kadai and add peppercorns, jeera, curry leaves and ginger. Add cashew nuts (optional) and fry for 1 minute.
Add in the pongal and heat through.



Serve hot with Sambhar and Coconut Chutney.
