Versatile, Quick and Easy Pizza Sauce
Saying 'Cheese' brings a smile to your face and say "PIZZA" - the smile broadens.
Making Pizza Sauce @ home is super easy and may be used in many ways. It also takes on a healthier note.
Tomatoes - 4, blanched and pureed
Oil + Butter - 1 tsp each
Onion - 1, small, chopped fine
Capsicum - 1/2, chopped fine
Garlic - 3 cloves
Bay Leaf - 1, small
Salt - 1/2 tsp (approx)
Pepper Powder - 1/4 tsp
Chilli Powder - 3/4 tsp
Sugar - 1/4 tsp
Basil - 1/2 tsp (dry)Tomato Sauce - 3 Tbsp
Oregano - 1/2 tsp (1/4 tsp crushed Omam - Ajwain can be added, instead of Oregano)
Heat oil and butter and fry onions till transparent. Add capsicum and saute for a minute.
Add bay leaf, tomato puree (I used ready made tomato puree), salt, chilli powder, pepper powder and sugar.
Stir in the sauce with basil and simmer until thick. Add Oregano and take off heat.
Cool and store in sterilised bottles in the refrigerator.
Great as a Sandwich Spread.
Thin it down with thin tomato puree, for makes an excellent Pasta Sauce.
