Potato Masala - all time favourite
Potato Masala - an all time favourite side dish!!! It goes with Rasam / Curd Rice. Yummy filling for Sandwiches and makes a good Chapathi Roll as well. Endless possibilities... One more thing - no murmur about an interesting side for lunch with this one.
Masala can be made with just potatoes or in combination with vegetables. Today I have added onions and green peas for a colourful and tasty Masala.
Potato - 2, large
Tomato - 1, med
Onion - 1, small
Peas - 1 handful
Oil - 3 tsp
Cinnamon Pd - 1 pinch
Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Dhaniya Powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmerric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Peel and cube potatoes. Parboil (optional).
Peel and dice the onions. Squeeze the onion cubes lightly with your hands to separate the layers. Keep aside.
Dice the tomatoes.
Heat oil and add onions and cinnamon powder.
Add potatoes and saute on high heat for 2 minutes. Toss in peas, tomatoes and masala powders. Saute for 2 minutes on high.
Lower flame and sprinkle water. Cook covered stirring every minute for about 5 minutes or until the potatoes and peas are cooked.
